| Moon (Lunar) Mosaic (Please

(Adjust brightness and contrast on your monitor for best viewing) . OK, this is not
a deep space image, and we had really intended to image Mars this night.
Unfortunately the atmosphere was so unstable that Mars was just a gelatinous,
oscillating blob in the telescope. We didn't want to pack up and quit without
accomplishing anything though, and the moon looked quite beautiful,
so we pointed the scope at it and started shooting.
This image of the moon was obtained with the SAC-7b imager on 08/16/03 at about 3:00am. 37 different AVI files were taken through the Meade 10" LX200GPS at f/6.3. Out of about 60 images per AVI file, one frame was selected that represented the best of the 60 images. The resulting 37 "best" images were then assembled into the mosaic below, which is only 25% of the size of the image originally assembled.
