M42, the Orion Nebula, M43 and NGC1977 with the Canon Digital Rebel XTi (400D) CCD and DSLR Astrophotography by Tim Tasto and Becky Tasto (Please
be patient while the images load)
(Adjust brightness and contrast on your monitor for best viewing) Here
is our shot of M42, the Orion Nebula, M43, its small companion and
NGC-1977, the Running Man Nebula, taken with the Canon Digital Rebel
XTi. The telescope used was our 8" Meade LXD55 SN on a Meade LXD55
mount. The image has been drastically reduced from its original
10-megapixel size for display on this web page. A small copy of the raw
stack is included below the image for reference. On a side note, my
wife Becky dragged me out of bed at 2:30am to get this shot. Though I
was not too happy about it at the time, she had already set everything
up outside except the telescope, so I was obliged to comply. I am now
glad that I did.
Here is a
small copy of the raw, unprocessed stack used to produce the shot of
M42 and companions above. The original image is 3888 x 2592
pixels...much too big for this webpage!
